Miss Havisham’s Wedding
book by Laura Barati
music by Jude Obermüller
lyrics by David Gomez
Miss Havisham’s Wedding is a heartfelt, comedic, feminist reimagining of a Dickensian icon. Thrust into adulthood after her father unexpectedly dies, a young, queer Danica Havisham is torn between protecting her brother Artie—who was disinherited after he was caught with another man—and building a new life for her and her secret lover Éadaoin, a family servant. To protect their estate, Danica cunningly agrees to marry Charles Compeyson, her brother’s new lover. But when her plans for marriage publicly unravel, Danica discovers untapped strength as a scorned bride; and the legend of Miss Havisham is born in this romantic, musical dramedy.
